Dear Parent

Thank you so much for your interest in the YE programme. Given to what extent the world of work has changed and the subsequent breakdown of the educational system, there has never been a more important time than now to teach entrepreneurship and financial literacy to our children. Yes, through your child’s involvement with Young Entrepreneurs he or she will gain invaluable business-, life- and financial literacy skills from the experience of starting their own micro-enterprise, and more importantly we will create awareness of entrepreneurship as a very attractive career choice. Cultivating entrepreneurship in the young is vital, as chidren are born imaginative, energetic, and willing to take risks, but without entrepreneurial education, the enterprising spirit of children dramatically declines over time and is almost non-existent by the time they graduate from high school.

Why the separate focus on financial literacy?

Not everybody’s going to be an entrepreneur, but everybody should be financially literate. Financial literacy is a base requirement like spelling or reading that everybody should acquire at any early age. When kids are taught the specific lessons of money management, they can not only apply their skills towards building a business for themselves, but they can also apply the skills they have learned to their personal lives. The financial habits you develop when you are young are going to go with you into your adulthood. Most importantly, you can’t be an entrepreneur unless you’re financially literate.

We are excited to embark on this journey with your child. This is THE BEST investment you can make in your child’s future!

Our Programmes are designed to promote financial literacy, encourage entrepreneurial thinking and spark the enterprising spirit in young people. Classes are conducted in small groups to ensure that each kid’s creativity is encouraged and that the intended knowledge and experience is ignited. Practical application and experience is also given through organised market days.

The Cost of our programmes are R750.00 per term with a once off registration fee of R450.00 which includes a YE Backpack. The backpack consists of the study material for the programme and all the raw material that your child will need during his/her journey to make 10 products that are sold at the YE Market Day. The profit the children make at the market day, after selling all their products, are theirs!

We also have the YE Bizbox to accommodate you if Young Entrepreneurs isn’t in your area yet! The Bizbox is a do it yourself “business in a box”. It is not as comprehensive as our formal face-to-face programmes, but, will nevertheless guide your child through the entrepreneurial cycle in a fun way. Inside the box is all the material and craft accessories necessary to make between 15-20 products. The box also has a workbook and video that takes your child through all the steps to start a little business and also shows how to make the products. Your child can then go and sell his/her products in the community or at a local market to make some extra money!

We are excited to embark on this journey with your child. PLEASE REGISTER your child via our website if you would like them to join the formal programme.

Once registered we will determine the study centre your child will attend and suitable time slots.

This is THE BEST investment you can make in your child’s future!
